I am a psychotherapist and the owner of Be Heard - Live Well LLC. I created Be Heard - Live Well in 2023 with the goal of ensuring that the individuals who seek services here are treated with the utmost respect and given the highest quality care possible. I chose the name because I firmly believe that people who put their time, money, and trust in me deserved to be heard and live well.
I have been a psychotherapist since 2020, first practicing in Rhode Island and now in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. My experience is with adults who have survived traumatic events from childhood, relationships, and military service. Also, I have provided therapy to individuals who experienced sadness, anger, relationship issues, anxiety, lack of assertiveness, and low self-esteem. In addition to providing talk therapy, I also provide eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR has been proven to be one of the most effective therapies in treating individuals who have been traumatized and have experienced adverse life experiences.
I received my graduate degree in social work from Boise State University and my undergraduate in human services and management from the University of Phoenix. I have an associates in human services with a concentration in mental health from the Community College of Rhode Island. I am currently licensed as a licensed certified social worker- clinical (LCSW-C) in Maryland and the equivalent (LCSW) in Virginia and DC.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for community mental health centers on the assertive community treatment (ACT) team; first as a case manager and then as a team leader for a total of eight years. We treated adults with severe and persistent mental illness, many of whom were low income and faced other challenges as well. Previous to my community mental health experience, I worked in residential programs for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities and mental illness for ten years.
Wherever you are in your journey and whatever challenges you are facing, I am available to listen, guide, and support you as your dedicated therapist. I am available for free 15-minute consultations to allow people considering therapy to ask questions and get the information they need to make an informed decision.
